Overview of Organization:
The Greater Chatham Initiative (GCI) is a catalyst for economic development within the Greater Chatham community, encompassing Chatham, Auburn Gresham, Avalon Park, and Greater Grand Crossing. Committed to revitalization, GCI is actively involved in projects such as the 79th Street Corridor Redevelopment Plan, aimed at creating vibrant spaces and fostering community engagement.

Internship Summary:
Embark on a dynamic internship with GCI as a 79th Street Redevelopment Planner. This summer internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the research and development of the 79th Street Corridor Redevelopment Plan. As an intern, you will work closely with the GCI team, engaging in research, data analysis, and event coordination to support the organization's mission of community revitalization.

Responsibilities:
- Research corridor models locally and in other cities for innovative ideas.
- Assist in surveys, interviews, data analysis, and report writing.
- Collaborate with the GCI team on the curation, booking, and oversight of summer events, including Mahalia Jackson Court weekend series, Artists on the 9 exhibition space, boardwalk activities, and Event Stage bookings.
- Support the coordination of trolley tours and contribute to various duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in planning, development, and design.
- Strong writing skills for effective communication.
- Enthusiasm for community engagement and economic development.

About the Supervisor:
Your supervisor will be Rhea Steele, Deputy Director at Greater Chatham Initiative, a visionary leader committed to community development and revitalization.

Location and Modality:
This internship may involve both remote and on-site activities. Virtual communication will be prioritized, ensuring flexibility for interns to contribute to GCI's impactful projects.

Start and End Date:
Summer internships will take place during the period of June 10 - September 27 with specific dates to be determined by the employer partner and intern during the interview process.

Modality Notes

Our Office hours are Monday thru Friday, 9am to 5pm we would like the intern to also work the same hours on site at our location
