One thing Americans across political divides believe is that the nation’s election processes are deeply flawed, though the prescriptions vary deeply. Time for a deep dive into the history of election laws and reforms that have been tried, succeeded and failed, and an examination of what else can be done to improve the way we vote. Featuring Ben Ginsberg, a leading political law advocate; Susan Kennedy, who served as chief of staff to former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who led a successful open primary ballot initiative and other reform efforts; and philanthropist John Arnold, who is working to promulgate ranked-choice voting. Moderated by IOP director Heidi Heitkamp. Food provided. If you have any questions about accessibility, please contact iopevents@uchicago.edu.
