Since 2020, at least a dozen African nations have endured coup d'états; six countries crossing 3,500 miles across the center of the continent now constitute the longest stretch of military rule in the world. With a recent Freedom House finding that half of Africans live in countries considered “not free,” what is the future for the region, and the country-by-country dynamics that spell its future. Featuring former principal deputy to the Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Geeta Pasi, a former US Ambassador to Djibouti, Chad and Ethiopia; James Robinson, director of the Pearson Institute for the Study and Resolution of Global Conflicts; Semafor Africa reporter Yinka Adegoke; and Mvemba Phezo Dizolele, director and senior fellow of the Africa program at the Center for Strategic & International Studies. Co-sponsored by the Pearson Institute for the Study and Resolution of Global Conflicts. Food will be served.
